1. Start Small and Invite Someone to Join You

I Have Just Begun
Amanda Judd
This feels like us to me. Gathering together. Sharing what we create and shape from our lives. Sometimes from nothing, it seems. If an idea can be nothing. But an idea isn’t nothing. It’s part wish. Part thought. Part dream.
Something listened for. A surprise that has been brewing for years. Attending.
A tending.
Attention not paid but given.

I have grown to love
The exquisite discipline
Of writing haiku
Perhaps you could, too
I say this only because
You inspired me

4. Try Something New to You
Removing reveals.
Chipping the inessential
form is discovered.
Now to try it out
One foot forward and again
Going together
It is fun to play
Writing verses with constraints
Wouldn’t you agree?
Creativity
Is not a skill to master
It is who you are

5. Learn to Navigate the Waters
The drop down thing displayed Chicago’s time, I went under advanced options and it had a really crazy way of displaying time for other time zones. It dawned on me that my geography knowledge is horrible. Not sure why they didn’t do the simple EST, CT, PT stuff.

WHO
Ajike Kendrick Asegun
WHO TOLD YOU YOU’RE NOT BEAUTIFUL
Who said it
Who called you something else
Something not your name
Who glitched you
Sent you whirling spiraling
Kicked your world from under you
WHO TOLD YOU I SAID IT
Who lied
Said you had to earn it
Your worth
Who put my name in it
Made me co conspirator to lies
WHO’S LOVING YOU
Always has always will
Who’s here touching your face
Wrangling you washing you clean
Standing you upright
Dressing you anointing you with oil
Making your forehead strong
I AM

my grandmother told
my mother, write nothing down
truth was a danger
but she called me once,
hearing a word in Bus Stop
she wanted to share
she liked to play cards

ever smoky air

Note to Self:
You don’t need to know everything. How could you? Just enough to set off willing to decide with attention. One small move towards daring. What is revealed comes next. Yours to see.
