Passing

Summer art – press play
Let the waves flow back and forth
Create joyous noise
Soon after beginning this community, we noticed that our individual works had the power to become waves of influence. Salt, haiku, and mycelium, for example, were ideas that rippled across our work and conversations. As we watched our works reflect and refract these influences, we wondered what would happen if we were deliberate about collaboration.
So we devised an experiment. Pass N Play was that experiment.
The idea was simple: each Player would choose one word from this list of prompts:
terroir
ground
place
soil
web
flow/flower
ripen
list/listen
pilgrim
forage
culture
salt
invite
connect
alchemy
reunion
bloom
relationship
rest/rise
Based on their chosen word, they would then make a mark on a 7” x 7” piece of paper. The mark could be made with any kind of mark maker ~ pen, pencil, paintbrush, needle and thread, etc. ~ but it had to be visual. Next, they would take a photo of what they had done to create a provenance of each work. Finally, they would mail (snail or email) the in-process work to the next Player in our worldwide circuit.
A few of the in-process works were shared in Brew but the entire project hasn’t been shared publicly. Until now.
Please enjoy our joyous noise:
